RACE GUIDELINES

Important Guidelines, Warnings and Logistics

  • All runners must stay on the course. The course is marked with a yellow ribbon for the 100-k race, blue ribbon for the 13.1-m race and red ribbon for the 10-k race and chalk.
  • Trail hazards include poison oak, rattlesnakes, mountain lions, bears and other wild animals. Please exercise extreme caution.
  • We are given special permission to use the roads, trails and Forest Service facilities. Please respect them.
  • Numbers must be visible and worn on the front at all times. All runners must be checked through each checkpoint by a race official. It is the runner’s responsibility to ensure that the official sees their number.
  • Medical Staff and aid station captains have the authority to pull a runner from the event should they deem it unsafe for the runner to continue. The runner must comply with this decision.
  • If you find it necessary to drop from the race, you must do so at an aid station. Notify the aid station captain and have the captain remove your bib results label. If you feel you cannot get to the nearest aid station, stay on the trail and a sweep will assist you.
  • Although there are well‐stocked aid stations, it is highly recommended that 100-k participants carry a minimum of one water bottle but preferably two at all times. Temperatures can vary and the day may be very hot. Electrolyte replacement is also extremely important. HEED will be provided at all aid stations.
  • For the 100-k participants, drop bags will be delivered to Red Star Ridge, Robinson Flat, Deadwood Water Pump and Michigan Bluff. Bags must include your name, number and location where you want them to go. Bags must be clearly marked and secure. All drop bags must be left with Race Management during check-in on August 13th. Race Management is not responsible for lost articles.
  • Do not place valuables in the drop bags. All drop bags will be brought to the finish line in Foresthill after that aid station closes.
  • All 100-k runners receiving aid from their crews must do so with a 400 yard radius of the aid stations. No crews are allowed at North Fork, Lyon Ridge, Red Star Ridge, Miller’s Defeat, Last Chance, Deadwood Water Pump, or El Dorado Creek. Any runner receiving aid from their crew at these aid stations will be disqualified.
